Privacy Policy

RydeChain is a ride-sharing marketplace operated by Arc Accra. Drivers publish the journeys they are already making, and passengers book a seat on a journey heading their way. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It covers the RydeChain mobile app and the services at arcaccra.com.

Information we collect

Account details

Your name, email address, phone number, and role (passenger or driver). Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash and cannot be read by us or anyone else.

Location

Passengers share a pickup point and destination when searching for a trip. Drivers share live location while they are online so passengers can see their approach and follow the trip in progress. Drivers who go offline stop sharing location. We do not track location when the app is not in use.

Photos and camera

If you set a profile picture, you may take a photo or choose one through your device’s system photo picker. The picker returns only the single image you select — the app cannot browse or read the rest of your photo library. The camera is also used to scan a driver’s payment QR code.

Driver documents

Drivers submit licence, insurance, and vehicle documents for verification. These are visible only to RydeChain staff reviewing the application and are never shown to passengers.

Payment information

Fares are paid in ADA on the Cardano blockchain. We store the public wallet address associated with your account and read publicly available transaction data to confirm a payment. We never hold your private keys, seed phrase, or recovery details, and we cannot move funds on your behalf.

Device and diagnostic data

A push notification token so we can alert you about trips, plus anonymous crash and error reports used to fix faults. Crash reports contain technical details about the failure, not the contents of your trips or messages.

How we use it

  • Matching passengers to trips travelling in the same direction
  • Showing live trip progress to both parties during a journey
  • Confirming ADA payments and maintaining trip history
  • Verifying drivers before they can be marked as approved
  • Sending trip notifications, and account emails such as password resets
  • Investigating safety reports, disputes, and technical faults

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your data for advertising.

What other people can see

When a booking is confirmed, the driver and passenger see each other’s first name, rating, and the pickup or drop-off point for that trip. Drivers additionally share vehicle details and live location during the journey. Wallet addresses are masked in the app. Your email address, phone number, documents, and full trip history are never shown to other users.

What goes on the blockchain

Personal data is never written to the Cardano blockchain. Payment transactions are public by the nature of any blockchain, and a transaction is linked to a wallet address rather than to your name or contact details.

Services we rely on

We use a small number of providers to run the service: cloud hosting and databases, map and geocoding providers to turn place names into locations, push notification delivery, crash reporting, and a Cardano blockchain data provider. These providers process data only to deliver those functions on our behalf.

How long we keep it

Account and trip records are kept while your account is active, and for a period afterwards where we are required to retain them for legal, tax, or safety reasons. Diagnostic data is short-lived. You may ask us to delete your account at any time.

Your choices

  • Location, camera, photo, and notification permissions can each be revoked in your device settings. Some features stop working without them — drivers cannot go online without location, for example.
  • You can request a copy of your data or ask us to correct it by emailing us.
  • You can request deletion of your account and data, which sets out exactly what is removed and what we are required to keep.

Children

RydeChain is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
